They Dishonor and Disregard Their Wives
I am sure everyone knows that Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo is my father and in the world of today, he is one of the most respected men of God worldwide yet he takes time to advise and mentor me. Recently he told me " Wale respect your wife and listen to her that is the secret"
On your wedding day, you made some vows in the presence of God and in the presence of people. If you have ever been married or you have been a best man at someone's wedding, you will know that when those vows are being said there is a heavy presence that rests, it is not an ordinary moment, it is a very spiritual one.
Now this is what the bible says about those vows in Malachi 2:13-14 (NIV) 13Another thing you do: You flood the Lord’s altar with tears. You weep and wail because he no longer looks with favor on your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands. 14You ask, “Why?” It is because the Lordis the witness between you and the wife of your youth. You have been unfaithful to her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.
Those wedding vows are what is called imule (covenant) in Yoruba and a Yoruba proverb also says "Eni to ba dale, a bale lo" ( if you break the covenant, the covenant will kill you)
In case you forgot what you said on your wedding day, let me remind you:
""I, ___, take thee, ___, to be my wedded husband/wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part, according to God's holy ordinance; and thereto I pledge thee my faith [or] pledge myself to you."
You promised to cherish and love that woman and you pledged your life to her according to God's ordinance till death separates you! Malachi just told us that God was there the day you said those vows and an angel wrote down everything you said. So when you pray God checks if that marriage covenant is in place before He answers your prayers. You see I am convinced that God attends weddings because divine provision happens and Jesus first outing was also a wedding.
Listen to this carefully, after God, the next most important person in your life is your wife! Every billionaire from Bill Gates to the late Rockefeller to Baba Adeboye and Bishop Oyedepo knows this secret!
Bros, everything you are dealing with financially and all the troubles in your life can stop just like it started if you start fulfilling your vows. Honor that woman and respect her.
There are many men of God who died or whom we never heard of again the moment they started mistreating their wives. May God give us wisdom and may we not be victims of the covenant in Jesus name.
