"Sorry my dear, what do you want to eat? Should I prepare pepper soup for you?"
Amina knew she had to do everything that she could to take care of her husband. He had been so good to her in all the 30 years that they had been married and now that he was not as strong as he was in the past, it was her responsibility to make sure he was in good health.
Amina had friends who were traveling all over the place and attending parties even though their husbands needed them. They would tell Amina that when their husband was young, all he did was to cheat on them with different women and to maltreat them and now that he was old, it is payback time. They would rather be with their children and grandkids or attend parties than be with a wicked old man.
Amina tried to tell them to forgive but they would not, they told her they had been waiting for it all their lives and now it was their time to enjoy.
Dear husband, are you treating your wife properly? What are you doing with your money, your strength and your time now that you have all of it in abundance? If your wife were to treat you the way you treat her would you be happy?
God has a way of rewarding faithfulness in marriage. The bible says in Malachi 2:15b (NLT)
So guard your heart; remain loyal to the wife of your youth.
That woman will be with you till the day you die! Be smart, treat her right, one good turn deserves another. May God help us all in Jesus name.
