Guard Your Heart

I watched a movie called 'Why Do Fools Fall in Love' yesterday. I had seen it in the past but for some reason, it struck a chord this time around. The movie was the story of Frankie Lymon, a music star who rose to stardom at 15 and by 25 years old he was dead from a drug overdose. Frankie inspired the Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson a lot.
I have discovered that success could be dangerous if you do not know the purpose. The list of successful and talented people who self destruct are endless: Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston and so on. All these people put smiles on the faces of millions worldwide, the world is yet to recover and may never recover from their impact yet they died from self destructive habits; drug overdose!
What has God started doing in your life? Are you making more money than you have ever made before, is your career sky rocketing in record time? Have you been placed in a position of power? One thing you must understand is that God does not bless you because of you, it is because of others and none of what you have truly belongs to you, God entrusted it into your hands, you are a steward! Don't get proud and pompous, God could have used anybody.
Pride comes when you believe all that you have is because of your efforts, the moment pride comes, the clock starts ticking because it will be only a matter of time before you self destruct. The bible says in Proverbs 16:18 (NLT) pride goes before destruction and haughtiness before a fall. Money will also give you the liberty to fulfil your fantasies, you must guard your heart because if you have been nursing an ambition to get a mistress or take drugs or live a fast life, money will make it possible that's why the bible says in Proverbs 4:23 (NLT) Guard your heart above all else for it determines the course of your life.
If you are a child of God, success is inevitable, you must begin to guard your heart from now on. Begin to discipline the things you think about and long for because if it happens in your mind, it will eventually happen in your life. May we not self destruct in Jesus name. Amen
