Sir Obinna Njoku looked out of his balcony over his vast estate, he was one of the richest men in Africa and number 10 richest man in the world. He was also the largest land owner after the Nigerian government. Yet on this day, Sir Njoku was crying bitterly, it was his 70th birthday and he knew he didn't have much more time to live.
Who would he leave all his vast estate to? His children? Certainly not! They were all spoilt brats! It was his fault! All of his fault! He wished that he had someone to advice him when he was just starting out. The moment he died, everything he had ever worked for will be gone in the twinkle of an eye.
He failed to spend time with his children because he felt money was more important and they could do well without him. All he had now was regrets; although he was very wealthy at the moment, it was just for a while, his wives and children would fight over everything, he wished he could change back the hands of time.
The bible says in Genesis 18:19 (NLT) I have singled him out so that he will direct his sons and their families to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just. Then I will do for Abraham all that I have promised."
Your major assignment as a husband and father is not to make money, it is to spend QUALITY time with your wife and children. You must deliberately influence the way they think, if you don't do it, television and the Internet will do it for you!
Many men have no idea of their children's shoe size, clothes or nappies,this should not be so! You are going to wake up one day and all of your children would have grown up!
Every wise organisation has a succession plan. That job or the money you are chasing cannot guarantee your posterity, your wife and children are the future. If you want to live forever invest quality time in your wife and children,teach them the ways of God and men, let them know the secrets you have learnt in business, they will also teach your grandchildren and the cycle continues till you have built a dynasty.
Let me share a secret with you; if you decide to consciously spend time with your family by listening to them, praying together, eating together, studying the bible and just loving them, money will come!
I urge all fathers and husbands to make up their mind to just be there for their wife and children in the next one month, close early from work and go home, don't hang out with the boys at the weekend, just stay home with your wife and children and just love on them.Watch what God will do at your workplace or in your business.
