How To Overcome Sexual Temptation





Titi stared at Femi as he lit a post coital cigarette, she felt so dirty and ashamed of herself. Just last Sunday, she had cried to God and made a vow that she would not have sex again till her wedding night but here she was again!
Tears welled up in her eyes, she felt God had forgiven her too many times, she didn't feel like praying but she knew she had to stop this sin if she would ever get right with God. She muttered "help me Jesus" and at that moment, strength came, she stood up from the bed, wore her clothes and told him" Femi, I am sorry I can't continue with this relationship, this is the last time I will come to your house and the last time we will be sleeping together, I have decided to take my walk with God seriously"

Femi looked at her as if something was wrong with her, then he burst out laughing, he was still laughing when she left his apartment, she knew she had done the right thing and as she walked out of that door, she felt so much peace like she had never felt before. She knew she couldn't do this on her own but God's grace was sufficient for her.

Are you going through this same predicament? You are a born again christian but your partner is not and anytime you are together, he/she lures you to sexual sin. Don't give up on yourself because Jesus will not give up on you. The bible says that you should come boldly to the throne of grace and obtain help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16)

There are 3 crucial things you must do:
1. Quit that ungodly relationship: anyone who does not move you closer to God is not your husband/ wife.
2. Associate with friends who have gone through your struggle and are now married or are successfully abstaining from sex.
3. Filter your thoughts: the bible says in Phillipians 4:8 (NIV) whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.
